Hello, I'm Kelvin. I have recently passed my AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and completed my Masters in Data Science. I would like to be a cloud developer. I have some experience in Python and JavaScript.
I love building side projects, like this website. I want to get into IoT, build automations and add more machine learning features to my website too. I saw how AWS certification is needed by a wide range of IT-related job postings and after learning more about AWS and cloud computing from Udemy, cloud computing really unlocks all kinds of possibilities.
To keep this introduction brief, I have divided the remaining sections into the following tabs.
I was in Foundation in Arts and it has many subjects, ranging from economy, math, psychology and sociology. There was a subject called 'Computer Technology', where we built basic HTML pages using notepad. I still remember literally writing html codes on paper for the final exam.
TESOL stands for Teaching English as Second Language and it was my degree. My late lecturer encouraged me to use technology to conduct mock teaching. Using HTML files as teaching material felt very reliable, as it will work for any device with web browser. My lecturers were amazed by the teaching materials I built. I was also a proofreader and mentor at my university's language clinic.
Whenever there were graduations at my university, the town will be very crowded for the weekend. So, I took my first Udemy course called Automate the Boring Stuff with Python Programming. With Python I could do things at a higher level. For example, Python allowed me to automate the process of renaming files. Here's the link to my certificate.
It was my final year of study. Since grammar can largely be taught through explanation or pattern discovery through examples, I realized that most grammar websites use the former. I built a website where grammar is taught via simulation to encourage rule discovery. The project was a success and I used it in my classes during internship, as well as received a bronze and a silver medals at research conferences. I also used Python to build a UI that contains Google Translate, Oxford dictionary and Wiktionary for my students.
I just realized that I want to join the tech industry, so I joined a web development course at The Hacker Collective and ended up with a front end development job with the founder. I worked in his startup company as a front-end web developer. I was introduced to VueJS and loved how it really simplifies state management.
In the programme, there were the data engineering and business analyst pathways. I picked the former. I converted some of my assignments into part of this website too. With my knowledge in Python and experience as a front-end web developer, I built this web application with Django and VueJS. Perhaps due to having taken TESOL, natural language processing (NLP) felt intuitive. I was also given brief theoretical intro to cloud computing, which I found amazing.
